Event description

Description

A survey with a twist; Pheromone lures will be used in this original survey of one of Britain’s most striking day flying moth species. Emperor moths are common throughout Britain, and are most common on upland moors where heather is a favoured food plant of the moth larvae. Working in partnership with Butterfly Conservation, Durham wildlife Trust will be conducting a public led volunteer survey to gather information on this species distribution and conservation in the Durham area; Giving you the unique opportunity to get closer to the Emperor moth whilst contributing towards the conservation of the colourful moth.
