Description

Join energy experts and thought leaders from The University of Manchester – the home of graphene – who will be hosting a research showcase and networking opportunities at the VIP area of the UK Pavilion on June 21 and June 28.

These events will give a unique opportunity to view the stunning visitor experience at the heart of the UK Pavilion which features graphene, the 2D material that was isolated in Manchester and set to make a global impact as one of the most transformational technologies of our age. Such unprecedented technological advances, plus rapid changes in demographics, the geo-political landscape and the behaviour of our global climate, will all present massive challenges and opportunities for the energy industry.

Along with the opportunity to visit the UK Pavilion, you will also get to hear from world-leading experts from The University of Manchester. They will describe how the work taking place at the University is shaping the development of the energy systems of the future.

On June 21 you can hear from academics working in the areas of:

  • energy networks
  • solar
  • wind power
  • materials

On June 28 you can hear from academics working in the areas of:

  • oil & gas
  • nuclear energy
  • bioenergy

Our showcase will begin at 1.00pm on June 21 and 12noon on June 28 with a welcome and an opportunity to tour the visitor experience at the UK Pavilion. A short series of talks from The University of Manchester experts will be followed by our themed discussion entitled ‘Energy revolution: what will the energy sector look like in 20 years?’
