Event description

Description

Research engagement is a phrase that gets heard in academia all the time, but what does it really mean? How and why should researchers be thinking about engagement and where on earth should you start? But engagement isn't the only confusing bit of terminology in town so we'll also be looking at how to make impact without breaking anything :)

This workshop aims to introduce researchers to engagement and impact, focussing on simple, practical methods to get started in engaging different audiences with research. The session will include guidance on how to decide on messaging, target different groups and audiences, techniques to use and how to know if what you’re doing is working. Expect insights, hints, tips and hands-on tools so please come with a research project or theme in mind.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Note: The workshop is part of our bumper PER Skills Day taking place all day on 4th November. In the afternoon we'll be holding sessions on DESIGN-A-DEMO: How to Make Your Research Hands-on and Newsworthy: How to Navigate the Media for Researchers. So why not make a day of it by coming along to all three or let colleagues know of sessions they might find interesting.
