About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

A comprehensive overview of the measures used to assess children’s cognitive development, socio-emotional outcomes and mental health, including their psychometric properties. In this series a focus would also be on the variation of practices with 4 year assessments.

Furthermore, WIPPSI and/or other IQ tests along with motor and visual perceptual tests including Movement ABC, VMI will be discussed. In this talk she will describe the 4-year follow-up assessment of children who were previously enrolled into ePrime, a neonatal neuroimaging study that recruited 511 very preterm newborns (<33 weeks’ gestation) between 2010 and 2013 from hospitals within the North and Southwest London Perinatal Network. She will provide a comprehensive overview of the measures used to assess children’s cognitive development, socio-emotional outcomes and mental health, including their psychometric properties.

She will also summarise the results of various studies investigating neonatal structural and functional brain features in relation to 4-year-old outcomes and discuss the importance of including information about the environmental context in which children grow-up when evaluating their neurodevelopmental profiles.

Below is a list if measures that will be discussed during the webinar.

Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-fourth edition (WPPSI-IV)

Speaker: Chiara Nosarti, Professor of Neurodevelopment and Mental Health, King’s College London

Brief bio: Chiara Nosarti is Professor of Neurodevelopment and Mental Health and works across the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Department of Early Life Imaging, King’s College London. Her research focuses on the study of neurodevelopmental outcomes in typically and atypically developing individuals from birth to adult life. Chiara leads the follow-up of several longitudinal studies, including the Developing Human Connectome Project and the Evaluation of Preterm Imaging study. Chiara uses multimodal neuroimaging in combination with cognitive, behavioural, social and environmental data in order to identify those children who are most vulnerable to psychopathology.
