"The Evolution Of Gaming"
Hosted by Interxion, the data centre for gaming.
Thursday 27th March in Old Street at BL_NK
Our last ‘Evolution of Gaming’ event ran in 2012, when we looked at the progression of the gaming industry from past to present. This time around, we will be looking at the evolution from present to future.
A full day event, with 2 sessions for the younger generation featuring Kano workshops, followed by an evening panel discussion and interactive fun & games for adults with an inner child!
Featuring 4 industry guests and moderated by our own Michael Hobson, we'll be chatting about:
Julia Hardy is a producer and presenter for SBTV Games & Gadgets, the latest arm of Jamal Edwards' massively successful YouTube brand. She is also the tech and video games journalist for Sky News’ Sunrise programme talking through all the latest news and trends. Currently working on a video game documentary for Radio One, she has also written and hosted several video game TV shows for Bravo and Challenge TV. As well as written work for GamesMaster, Front and Metal Hammer.
Louise Shannon is Curator of Digital at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Since joining the V&A in 2003, Louise has curated a number of exhibitions including Decode, the V&A's first exhibition dedicated to digital art and design and most recently, exhibition, 'Tomorrow', a site specific commission by artists Elmgreen & Dragset. She is currently developing the digital collecting policy for the V&A's permanent collection. Louise is curating a forthcoming video games exhibition at the V&A.
A 13-year industry veteran/victim and former employee of both Sony Computer Entertainment and Microsoft, Dan's brain is stuffed with gaming knowledge, leaving room for very little else. After forcing himself upon the public as the co-face of Xbox Live, he's now co-founder of Explosive Alan Productions, a successful video production agency.
Our moderator for the evening: an avid gamer. He fired his first pixels back in 1990 with Commander Keen loaded from the DOS prompt, later spent a few years giving consoles a go, and recently built his own gaming PC instead of getting the new Xbox or Playstation.
NOT ONLY THAT
