The 75-minute webinar, hosted by NHSX, is part of a series on the digital eye care playbook, which showcases numerous examples of how technology has helped solve common challenges in the delivery of eye care in the NHS. This webinar focuses on using connectivity to integrate pathways between primary and secondary care as well as the challenges of implementing these solutions in the NHS. Speakers will also highlight some of the national work to improve connectivity and allow patients to be managed remotely, or closer to home.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the widespread postponing of appointments and exacerbated pre-existing capacity problems within the hospital eye service leading to the risk of avoidable loss of vision. In addition, requirements for social distancing mean that the traditional outpatient clinic model will not be able to tackle the backlog of unmet need making new and innovative care models an imperative.
