Join The Fandangoe Kid x The Loss Project x Street Sound System for our mini Grief Rave Dance | Remember | Connect

About this event

The Fandangoe Kid x The Loss Project x Street Sound System are delighted to be collaborating together to bring you Grief Rave. Join us for a safe space to remember loved ones whilst cutting loose and throwing some shapes.

Movement and dance are powerful ways of connecting with our grief and each other. The pandemic has disconnected us in so many ways and taken away opportunities for us to be together, to support each other and to share in collective remembrance. Throwing some shapes on our impromptu dance floor, connecting to your grief through your body, and being with people who get it can be amazing ways to help you as you move in and through your loss. We'd also love to hear your stories and memories and we'll be on hand to chat as well as busting some serious moves.

All we need you to do is:

- Bring a piece of vinyl or cassette tape with you that reminds you of someone you'd like to remember.

- Please respect other people at the rave and other people in the park.

- If it is raining the event will be postponed to protect the equipment.

NB We will be filming and recording on the day to promote our exciting collaboration on the Grief Mixtapes in conjunction with Soho Radio. https://sohoradiolondon.com/show/the-grief-mixtape-24-01-2022/ You do not need to participate in filming or recording unless you want to.

About us

The Loss Project is programming a series of workshops, talks and events in July/August 2022 as part of an exciting collaboration with The Fandangoe Kid. Last year, The Fandangoe Whip, a converted ice cream van, took to the streets to talk to people about stigmatised emotions including grief and loss, in light of the pandemic with ice cream!

This year the Whip is back, in a new guise and a brand new partnership with CAUKIN studio and the Skip gallery. We hope to smash the taboos around mental health and grief/loss by bringing ice cream back to the Greenwich Design Fest and Canary Wharf’s summer festival alongside a programme of therapeutic workshops, talks and events to support people and open up the conversation about mental health.
