Event description

Description

This unique festival reveals the beauty of the spiritual relationship between Guru (teacher) and disciples in traditional Indian culture. The session features the unique teaching of Kirana Gharana (school of Indian classical music) through talks and live post-modern performance of Hindustani classical music through an extra-ordinary theatrical presentation of the tumultuous life and golden Thumri bandishes of the forgotten queen of Benaras Gharana (school of Indian classical music) Badi Moti Bai - composed, directed and performed by the finest Hindustani classical vocalist in UK Chandra Chakraborty. A not-to-be missed musical theatre offers breathtaking, rare Thumri performances originally sung and collected by Badi Moti Bai from her Guru Ustad Moizuddin and depicts a haunting story of struggle, loyalty, sacrifices and patriarchal aggression.

The performance will be accompanied by Sri Kamalbir Singh on violin, Sri Sunil Jadhav on keyboard and Aniruddha Mukherjee on Tabla.

The event features serene poetry and dazzling dance performance, too.

Free entry with free light snacks.
