Part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival.

The National Library of Scotland holds the collections of John Francis Campbell and many other Gaelic-language sources. Ruairidh MacLean and Donald Smith will be reading from some of these collections in English and Gaelic. Written translations will be provided for attendees.

About the storytellers

Ruairidh Maclean tells stories that largely belong to the oral tradition of Gaelic Scotland. In 2019 he received an IGNITE fellowship from the Scottish Book Trust and Gaelic Books Council.

Donald Smith has been an active student of Scots and Irish storytelling for over forty years. He tells mainly Scottish and Irish folk tales. Donald is a founding member of the Scottish Storytelling Forum and is currently Director of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival.
