Event description

Description

This intense one-day drawing workshop will focus on a range of pictorial strategies to graphically express the human figure in space. The morning session will utilise line as a basic tool, opening up a route of communication between the hand and eye. In the afternoon we will progress to rendering techniques, exploring notions of volume and structure. Encouragement will be given to shed any habitual mannerist solutions, opening up your drawing language. Energising tone and using marks with an overall looseness will be a key aim. Poses will vary in length from short to more sustained, and we will be using dry monochromatic media.

Mick Kirkbride NEAC is the current curator of all workshops and classes at the New English Art Club and former Senior Lecturer in drawing at The University of the Arts London. His work although primarily about invention has its foundations in the observed world where people, objects, styling and gesture are often starting points.
