Description

The First Christmas Tree

A magical interactive farmyard theatre performance for children

This Christmas at Lathcoats discover the story of the First Christmas Tree. Renowned story tellers Mike and Sarah Dodsworth return with a magical farmyard theatre performance telling the story of how the smallest tree in the forest was chosen by the angels to be their very special gift.

Each session will be for a maximum of 10 children and will include crafts for the children to make and take home and a very special gift. The majority of the session is indoors (but not heated) and may finish with a walk outside so come prepared! The story and the crafts are most suited for children aged 3-8 and the whole session will last no more than an hour.

FAQs

How do I book a ticket?

Tickets are available by clicking on the 'book ticket' link. Tickets must be purchased in advance. They are only available online and can't be purchased in advance at the Farm Shop or Bee Shed.

What will my ticket include?

The ticket offers an experience lasting no more than an hour including crafts and an interactive theatre performance lead by a professional storyteller, in a group of no more than 10 participating children (plus no more than 2 accompanying adults). At the end of the session, each ticket holder will leave with craft made decorations and a Christmas tree sapling to be potted or planted.

Dietary, allergies and other special requirements

The gift includes a coir based substrate (coconut fibres) and activities will include glue, glitter and contact with animals and hay/straw. Please let us know IN ADVANCE if you or your child have any allergies or special requirements that we should be aware of.

Is it suitable for any age of child?

The recommended age for the theatre performance and crafts is 3-8 years however our storytellers will adapt the story according to the general age and ability of the children in the group. Parents/carers should be prepared to help their child with the simple craft activities if required.

How much does a ticket cost?

Each child ticket costs £12.50

Is there any charge for babies aged 0-12 months?

Babes in arms are free, but only if accompanying another paying child - they will not receive a gift. Otherwise a child ticket must be purchased.

Can I leave my child?

No. Each child must be accompanied by at least one adult, maximum two. We would recommend no more than four children to one accompanying adult.

Parents/carers are kindly requested to ensure that all children (not just their own!) can see and participate throughout the event.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive in time to start promptly at the time allotted to you. The sessions run back to back and so the previous group may still be underway up to this point. Each session will start promptly, if you arrive late please check in and then you will be directed as to where and how to catch up with your session.

What are your opening hours?

The bookable slots are shown when you click to book tickets. In general they follow our normal opening hours, with a break over lunchtime. Please note that the Farm Shop and Bee Shed are likely to be closed by the time the last slot of the day finishes. We may release further weekday dates according to demand.
