Event description

Description

*LIMITED TICKETS*

“The Footballers Who Went To War” will take place on Wednesday 6th December in the Commonwealth Suite, located in the East Stand of the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City FC. Registration will start at 10:00am and the event will run 10:30am to approximately 1:00pm.

Almost every football team in the league today sent players to the front between 1914 and 1918. Many never returned, and those that did were never the same again. The National Football Museum and the Woodland Trust have launched a project called ‘For Club and Country’, remembering football’s involvement in the First World War; www.forclubandcountry.org.uk

To honour this we, alongside the National Football Museum and the Woodland Trust, are hosting an event to share stories of the beautiful game during one of this country’s darkest hours. “The Footballers Who Went To War” will play host to a number of guest speakers including Falkland War Veteran turned professional footballer, Phil Stant, guests from the National Football Museum and John Hutchinson, the club historian at Leicester City FC. Hosted by Paul Fletcher MBE.
