What your target talent really wants – Understanding the candidate market

For three years reed.co.uk has polled an audience of over 2,000 active jobseekers to better understand how they start their search for work, their expectations of the recruitment process and what they look for in the 'dream employer'.

In this presentation we'll share emerging trends and look at how expectations have changed and developed over time

SHL: Early Careers recruitment – how to get it right?

Recruiting for early careers roles presents a challenge to select the right candidates in a way that doesn’t deter them from applying. Mari Milsom, Head of Resourcing at AWE, will present their case study on using engaging assessment design to create a positive candidate experience in early careers recruitment.  Learn how this forward-thinking organisation found a way to broaden its appeal to a wider pool of more diverse applicants, give an attractive yet realistic preview of the role and the organisation, and effectively and efficiently identify the best candidates.

Enboarder will showcase how their tools have revolutionised the onboarding process andsignificantly impacted priority business metrics of employee engagement, retention and productivity. This will be an interactive session, so audience participation will be required!

Predictive and Inclusive: Mastering the balancing act for the new Dixons Carphone Graduate recruitment process.  James, a Principal Consultant at Cubiks, and Jonny, Emerging Talent Manager at Dixons Carphone, will take us on a journey of how Dixons Carphone and Cubiks have partnered to develop a high volume recruitment solution that perfectly balances diversity and quality considerations. They will share with you how they have been able to increase quality of hire and reduce bias through measuring holistic assessment criteria in a robust, consistent and engaging manner. Further, they will showcase how balancing different predictors of performance (cognitive and behavioural fit) through holistic assessment and introducing a brand new attraction campaign have increased the diversity of successful applicants.

We are in an age of continuous technology advancement coupled with legislative changes as GDPR is implemented and we work our way through Brexit. Understanding how to build and cultivate a strong talent pipeline that enables your company to attract and retain top diverse talent is a must to remain ahead of your competition. Join Craig Sweeney, SVP of Client Solutions at WilsonHCG as he discusses:

  • How to ensure your technology(s) are enabling your strategic talent objectives and business outcomes
  • Best practices for delivering an optimised candidate experience while remaining compliant
  • Key takeaways and stories from global companies leading inventive talent pipelining strategies.

SMRS: Sarah Sturgess, Agency Director at SMRS and Eunice Clements-Tweedie from Kerry Group, will be sharing the Kerry Foods Employer Brand story. The presentation will share the process of developing the employer brand, bring to life the way in which Kerry People were engaged in the storytelling and showcase the development of the brand across attraction and communications materials.

Join Richard Collins from ClickIQ, who will be covering the changing media landscape, the move to performance advertising (including the rise of Indeed and the launch of Google for Jobs) and how this requires a new approach to recruitment advertising planning and buying. Using 2 ClickIQ Client case studies (one volume recruiter and one niche) Richard will look at advertising strategy and how the approach needs to vary including where to advertise, how much to spend. Finally, he will touch on the role of AI, data driven optimisation, automation and Programmatic Technology and how these give recruiters the tools they need for greater control and management of their recruitment advertising within an increasingly complex landscape.

Modernising Recruitment for a 500 year old organisation. The Church of England operates through 42 cathedrals and more than 13,000 churches delivering a visible Christian faith in every community. Despite employing more than 1000 people, over 8000 Ordained Clergy Post Holders and at any one time over 10,000 volunteers, until recently The Church used paper applications and notice boards for recruitment!  Aaron Werner - HR & Recruitment Systems Project Manager at The Church of England will talk through the wide-reaching recruitment modernisation programme underway. Working with TribePad, The Church has rolled out a highly customised ATS which is already delivering an increase in awareness, candidate volumes and improved diversity, and opening up a modernised recruitment world to the Church of England.

Storytelling that works for HR - getting candidates immersed in your brand - PathMotion is joined by Emma Britton from Citi to take you through the results of their research on the impact of storytelling in talent attraction.

Learn how they measured the impact of different types of content on how engaged a candidate was with the brand.

Find out how storytelling can help drive better engagement with your own brand during the recruitment process.

Richard Jones will be presenting our developmental session:

‘What’s your Purpose?’ is perhaps the most important question we could ask ourselves in this lifetime. It brings life into sharper focus. It makes us powerfully more effective and turns the mundane into the adventurous. But how do we get to answer this question? Do we have to sit on a Tibetan mountain top for 20 years? Read a thousand books? Or is there a much simpler way?  Once we know our Purpose we can spend the rest of our life exploring it in work, at home, in relationships and everywhere in between.

Richard is an actor, writer and seminar leader, his clients include Google, Coca Cola, Unilever and the European Union. He has personally trained over 300,000 people, has helped individuals and organisations on four continents find and live their Purpose in life and is a sought after speaker.  In this interactive talk, Richard combines theatre, comedy, storytelling and business case studies to help us explore our Purpose and how we can live it every day.

********

In addition, we will have our new round table format – as usual we will look at key priorities and challenges coming up in our morning session however we will take this one step further by identifying the key themes during this session and then in the afternoon everyone will have the chance to choose a theme to do a deep dive on for the remainder of the session.

There are so many benefits to attending a #FIRMday Conference! But what we hope what you take away from the day is:

•Great networking with peers

•Understanding the key challenges facing in-house recruiters today
