About this event
From delivering cases of wine on his scooter to building one of London's most beloved independent wine businesses, James Dawson’s entrepreneurial journey is nothing short of inspiring.
Now, he invites you to an intimate evening where passion, innovation, and remarkable wines come together. As you sip on six iconic and rare wines from private cellars, James will share his unique insights into the wine world, the story of Humble Grape - from tastings in friends’ living rooms to opening six thriving wine bars, and his philosophy on making wine more accessible - without the snobbery.
This 3.5-hour immersive wine dinner, personally hosted by James, will take you on a journey through six of the most iconic and exclusive wines, including the Chateau Lynch-Bages 2010, Pauillac, Bordeaux. Served alongside a three-course dinner crafted by our Executive Chef, this is more than a tasting - it’s a chance to dive into the world of fine wine with the visionary behind Humble Grape. With only 14 seats available and our last event selling out in just a few hours, this is your chance to secure your spot before tickets disappear.
What you'll be tasting:
Soutiran Signature Grand Cru NV, Ambonnay, Champagne, France (Magnum)
A standard bottle of Champagne says, “Let’s celebrate.” A magnum of Soutiran Signature Grand Cru says, “Cancel your plans, we’re making a night of it.” Hailing from the hallowed vineyards of Ambonnay, this is serious Champagne dressed in party attire. Rich brioche, golden orchard fruit, and a whisper of toasted almonds swirl together in a that somehow manages to be both opulent and razor-sharp. The bubbles? Persistent. The energy? Unapologetically grand.
Grimm's Bluff Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Santa Barbara, California, USA
Bright citrus, white peach, and a touch of tropical fruit mingle with a mineral streak so crisp it could cut glass. There’s elegance, there’s depth, and there’s just enough California sunshine in the mix to keep things fun.
Dutton Goldfield Rued Vineyard Chardonnay, 2017, Russian River Valley, California, USA
To rue is to bitterly regret. Well there is absolutely nothing bitter about this and you certainly won't regret it if you try it. Warren Dutton planted this in 1969 and it has produced aromatic and floral wines of such high quality that cuttings from it, called Rued Clones, have been propagated across California.
Paul Lato Pinot Noir Seabiscuit 2021, St Rita Hills, California, US
Paul Lato 'Seabiscuit' Zotovich Pinot Noir 2021, Santa Barbara County, California is a remarkable wine that beautifully showcases the unique characteristics of the Zotovich Vineyard, celebrated for producing exceptional Pinot Noir. Crafted by the talented winemaker Paul Lato, this wine reflects his dedication to small-lot production and a focus on highlighting the purity of the fruit.
Vinyes Ocults Grand Malbec 2020, Mendoza, Argentina
This metal famous Skull not only adorns the label but embodies the essence of this exceptional Malbec. Its strong, rustic, and enigmatic presence reflects the identity that is shown through all the Vinyes Ocults wines. Pure and fruited in style, this Malbec reveals a fresh, lithe, and silky palate. Ripe blueberry flavours integrate seamlessly with the nuances of 12 months of new oak ageing, creating a harmonious blend of fruit and spice. The wine caresses the palate with its velvety texture, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and finesse.
Chateau Lynch-Bages 2010, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
This isn’t a wine — it’s an event. A towering Pauillac that strolls into your glass wearing a tuxedo, loosens its tie ever so slightly, and proceeds to recite Baudelaire and bench press a barrique. The nose opens with aristocratic swagger: blackcurrant, cedar cigar box, and the unmistakable scent of “I cost more than your last holiday.” Swirl it and you’ll summon graphite, dark cherry, and just a whisper of leather-bound library — the kind with a private butler and questionable tax status.
