Event description

Description

After a quick-to-sell-out session in early September, we will be hosting our first training session of the new year at our office in central Bristol. Taking place on 30th January 2020, it will be a hands-on day running from 10am until 4pm where attendees from multiple public sector organisations can learn the fundamentals of designing and building excellent online consultations using Citizen Space.

This session is aimed at new users, anyone who uses Citizen Space is invited to attend. It is an opportunity for trainees to book individual places at a centralised session on a price-per-head basis, rather than needing to arrange a dedicated on-site training day at your organisation's offices, so don't miss out!

As well as giving attendees a solid grounding in using Citizen Space, the day will be an opportunity to meet people from similar organisations who also work in public and stakeholder consultation (plus the Delib team).

You can read more details and sign up to attend via this Eventbrite page. Please also feel free to share the event page with anyone from your organisation who's keen to get up to speed with using Citizen Space.

During the day we will cover:

  • Introduction to Citizen Space, the user journey, survey design and accessibility top tips
  • Practical survey build, the different answer components, and ways to provide supporting information
  • Theming your consultation and adding rich media
  • Spotting and avoiding common mistakes
  • Viewing and analysing your data (reporting, tagging, filtering and grouping)
  • Reporting back and closing the loop - best practice and good examples

A detailed agenda for the day will be shared with attendees in advance of the session.

What you will need to bring

You will need a laptop, as Citizen Space is accessed via your internet browser.

Please let us know when booking if you don't have your own laptop you can bring with you. We will have a small number of spares available, but we must know in advance if you will need one.

We have sample consultations you can build if need be, but you'll get more out of the session if you have material to work from which is relevant to your job and organisation. Therefore please bring details and content (i.e. draft introduction text & questions) for a consultation that you'd like to create.

Lunch, travel & accommodation, and accessibility

Lunch will be provided so please let us know when you book your ticket if you have any dietary requirements.

Please let us know if you have any accessibility requirements.

We've provided some travel advice below and if you need to stay over we can help by recommending hotels, but please note that travel and accommodation are not included.

Travelling by train: The closest train station is Bristol Temple Meads. The office is a 15 minute walk from there or taxis are available at the station.

Travelling by bus: The office is a 13 minute walk from Bristol Bus and Coach Station.

Travelling by car: The closest car parks are Prince Street (275 spaces, two minute walk) which costs £25 for a full day's parking, or The Grove (113 spaces, five minute walk) which costs £12 for a full day's parking (arrive after 8am, leave before 6pm). Alternatively there is also cheaper parking available a bit further away at Wapping Wharf (600 spaces, 11 minute walk) which costs £9.50 for a full day's parking.

Travelling by air: The closest airport is Bristol Airport. The Airport Flyer bus to and from the city centre runs 24 hours a day with services every 10 minutes.
