Event description
World Café Event for Major Projects Association Rising Stars, Ambassadors and Association for Project Management Emerging Professionals

About this Event

The Major Projects Association is working with the Association for Project Management to provide a professional development event for our Rising Stars, Ambassadors and the APM’s Emerging Professionals.

The World Café facilitated by Tim Banfield of the Nichols Group invites you to respond to three questions, developed from the APM’s Projecting the Future ‘big conversation’:

Q1. What can you (and other members of the project profession) do to give you the profile and status that will make you the natural choice as the CEOs of the future?

Q2. What’s the main quality, trait or skill that the Rising Stars generation can bring to project management, which your predecessors don’t have?

Q3. How can we involve end-users/citizens so that they may influence the projects which are going to deliver the benefits they need?

The programme

5.00 Welcome to the event and Tim Banfield’s introduction to the whole event and the theme

5.15 Split into work groups for the World Café (roughly 6-7 per group plus a facilitator). Each group will tackle one of the three questions and delegates. Depending on the numbers, we will have several groups tackling question 1; several groups tackling question 2 and several groups tackling question 3. When group members first join the group they will be invited to offer a one sentence introduction to who they are and what they do.

5.20 Group Leads frame the question. Each of the group leads offer some direction and provocations to the group to encourage their brainstorming. Using Miro or the whiteboard feature on Zoom, delegates then have 15 minutes to share their thoughts and ideas.

5.40 Delegates come back into the whole group and are then reallocated to a second group to tackle a question they didn’t tackle the first time around and they repeat the previous cycle (introductions, provocation, brainstorming)

6.00 Tim Banfield invites the group leads to share any observations on the experience and the ideas generated

6.15 Close of the event

Post event

We will curate, collate and feedback the results of all of the ideas generated with the delegates following the event.
