Event description
Makespace Oxford will discuss the benefits of meanwhile use, collaborative working and utilising unused and empty buildings.

About this Event

Makespace Oxford will discuss how it is working to change the way people think about space, by working collaboratively with landlords and socially conscious organisations, small businesses and artists, to create community driven spaces that breathe life back into unused and empty buildings in Oxfordshire.

Who is it for?

This webinar is for anyone interested in using meanwhile space for pop up shops, coworking spaces or community projects.

You may find this particularly relevant if you are:

  • An Oxfordshire landlord with empty space keen to make a positive social impact
  • A small business owner interested in creating shared spaces
  • A charity or socially conscious organisation that needs support in finding affordable work space

What will I learn?

  • What meanwhile space is, how it works and the benefits to smaller organisations and landlords
  • How meanwhile approaches can be used to examine who has access to space in our towns and cities and what role this plays in shaping our economy and society
  • How to run a values led workspace, using principles of regenerative design and the circular economy
  • How to support a working community during a pandemic and how we made a shared workspace COVID safe
  • Why there is a strong need for affordable spaces for small businesses in Oxfordshire
  • Introduce a new county-wide project, run by Makespace Oxford, to support local organisations and breathe life back into underused spaces
  • Workshop how to develop your ideal meanwhile space and build a collaborative working community

Makespace is a community-led workspace, which launched in September 2018.
