Description

Celebrating Arts Ageing and Health - Culture, Connecting and Cream Tea

This event is aimed at local older people and professionals keen to develop the age friendly culture in Tameside. Join us for an afternoon of creative activity, speakers from Public Health, Ambition for Ageing and Whitworth Art Gallery, workshops run by local organisations and the Culture Champions.

A high profile event bringing together arts organisations, researchers, community partners and older people in Tameside focused on priorities and challenges for developing Age Friendly work across GM, for example:

  • Social isolation and reach

  • Inequalities in participation (eg: BAME communities, older men)

  • Health partnerships and age friendly culture

  • Employability and volunteering

Background:

This event is one of a series of Arts and Ageing Catalyst events in partnership between the GM Ageing Hub, MICRA (Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research into Ageing) and AGMA.

The GM Art Officer Network has commissioned the delivery of a series of Age Friendly events to Age Friendly Culture, based at Whitworth. The events will bring together the Arts, Health and Ageing sectors to explore, celebrate and highlight their work and in particular the benefits of the Arts in addressing Ageing and Health.

Aims:

  • Share recent data, insight and research (GM and national level)

  • Bring sectors together to align priorities and build relationships

  • Catalyse new partnerships and activity, based upon local need and experience

  • Provide platform for older people and partners to shape cultural activity

  • Raise the profile of this work amongst GM stakeholders and decision makers
