Taking place in the iconic Ashton Memorial, the site of Margo Selby’s large-scale textile work Breathing Colour, we invite you to join us and a panel of experts to explore the future of colour.
Margo Selby is a British artist and designer working in woven textiles at the intersection of art, craft and design and colour is the impetus of her work. Alongside her handwoven art practice, Margo oversees the work of the Margo Selby Studio, designing for industry partners and the production of a wide range of textile applications.
Margo will talk about her artwork, Breathing Colour, made during her Art in Manufacturing residency at historic Lancaster based textile print company Standfast & Barracks, and the impact it has had on her practice and approach to colour.
She will be joined by a panel of academic and industry experts whose research and innovative approaches signal new futures for the production and application of sustainable dyes in the hope we can replicate the vibrant colours found in nature without further endangering the planet.
The Future of Colour weekend is presented in partnership with the National Festival of Making & Conversations in Creativity.
