The Future of conserving the past- How to sustainably specify timber window

There are two sides to the conservation coin and the challenges of balancing the environmental impact of inefficient historic properties with the need to protect the integrity of the building for future generations. Can we do both? Is there much point protecting buildings for the future if that very future is threatened by climate change? Our current planning laws try to incorporate ways to achieve net zero whilst, on the other hand hampering us in bringing old buildings up to modern, sustainable standards. This session will look at ways in which clever design and use of modern techniques can help architects and developers find a better balance.
