Event description
Inspiring technology innovations in head and neck reconstruction. How will medical and prosthetic practice change in 5, 10,15+ years?

About this event

Technology such as 3d computer-aided planning and 3d printing has become relatively mainstream now, but there are a host of other exciting developments that will radically infulence surgical and prosthetic reconstruction of the head and neck.

Future practice will look radically different in 5, 10, 15+ years. We've lined up a series of international speakers who are pioneering research and development of technologies that are only just beginning to be used in practice. We'll cover :

  • facial prosthetics;
  • tissue engineering;
  • haptics and augmented reality, and;
  • computer modelling.

Our provisional speaker line up includes:

  • Prof. Fumi Yoshioka DDS, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Removable Prosthodontics, School of Dentistry, Aichi Gakuin University, Nagoya, Japan – Digitising Facial Prosthetics
  • Dr. Lee Alkureishi (Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Illinois - Chicago and Shriners Hospitals for Children – Chicago, USA) - Virtual Reality Surgical Planning: Redefining the Workflow
  • Prof. Dr. Tymour (Tim) Forouzanfar (Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery / Oral Pathology in Amsterdam UMC-VUmc, The Netherlands) – Advanced Tissue Engineering
  • Jing Wang, DDS, SMD, (attending surgeon in Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, School and Hospital of Stomatology, Peking University) - Dynamical Virtual Planning and Function Prediction of Mandibular Reconstruction Surgery Based on Multi-body Dynamic Modelling - Practice and Challenge
  • Prof. Takahiro Kanno, DDS, FIBCSOMS, FIBCSOMS-ONC/RECON, PhD (Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Shimane University Faculty of Medicine, Izumo, Shimane, Japan) - Advanced-Digital-Technology-Assisted Oral Tumor Resection and Reconstruction
  • Dr Julien Davrou, MD, PhD Student, FEBOMFS, (Maxillo-Facial Surgery Department, Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital Paris, France; and Laboratory of Sensory and Ambient Interfaces, CEA-LIST-LISA Nano-Innov Saclay, France)- Haptic Feedback in Virtual Simulation for Skills Training.
  • Prof. Tomoki Itamiya, PhD, Professor, Division of Dental Education, School of Dentistry, Kanagawa Dental University, Yokosuka, Japan – A New Dental Education Method Using a Spatial Reality Display Capable of Stereoscopic Viewing with the Naked Eye without HMD

We'll include the chance to discuss these topics and ask questions to the speakers during a panel discussion.

Tickets are free to ADT Foundation members. We've also kept the fee for non-members as affordable as possible.
