Bournemouth, Poole and District Group
6.00 pm refreshments available, with the event starting promptly at 6.30 pm and finishing no later than 8.30 pm when the Branch Annual Meeting will be held
This event will be followed by a short Branch Annual Meeting 2017 starting at approximately 8.30 pm. You can attend the event and the Meeting, or opt to attend the Meeting only. The Minutes of the 2016 Branch Annual Meeting held on 22nd June 2016 are available from the Wessex Branch Administrator.
This session will provide participants with an overview of how a new national focus on health and wellbeing is being embedded into policing, and the impact this is having on future strategy at organisational level.
Peter Channon of Dorset & Devon & Cornwall Police is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and Head of HR Operations for Dorset Police which has a workforce of 2,500 officers, staff and volunteers. The HR Operations Department is the face of people management for local staff and managers. This includes all aspects of health and wellbeing.
Pete is also a member of the Alliance People Department Senior Management Team which has responsibility for all people-related matters for the Devon & Cornwall Police and Dorset Police Alliance, which comprises a total workforce of 7,500 people. This new “Alliance” service arrangement went live in April and its greatest challenge initially will be the harmonisation of working practices across the “Alliance”. Pete’s experience within the Police Service includes working in fleet services, communications and control rooms before he moved into HR in 1987.
