Event description

Description

Here in Stockton we’re transforming our high street into a hub of social, cultural, leisure and retail activity. As winners of the Great British High Street Rising Star award 2016 we’ve learned so much already and we’d like to share our experiences with you.

We’ve had the privilege of working with experts including Bill Grimsey (author of the Grimsey Review) and Dr Kris Declercq (Mayor of Roeselare, Belgium) who have had first-hand experience of transforming town centres.

The future of our High Streets –Stockton’s Story is a rare opportunity to hear from Bill and Kris as well as Neil Schneider (CEO, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council) and a senior representative from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) on the Future High Street Fund.

You’ll also have the opportunity to see our story come to life with a walking tour of the town centre developments including public artworks, community spaces, theatre developments, enterprise arcades, hotel and independent shopping areas. The guided tour will provide an opportunity to see elements of the town centre transformation first hand and talk to the people involved.

This conference is a must for senior local government officers and service managers with responsibility of developing town centres and those who have submitted expression of interest for the Future High Street Fund.
