About this event

The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists’ (WCIT) Financial Services Technology Panel is proud to announce a prestigious black-tie event in partnership with the Institute of Directors Insurance Group and Services and Fintech Group. This inaugural annual gathering will feature a keynote address by one of the most influential voices in global finance today — Dame Julia Hoggett DBE, Chief Executive Officer of the London Stock Exchange plc.

In an era marked by volatility, transformation, and opportunity in global financial markets, this event will provide a rare and timely opportunity to hear directly from one of the UK’s leading financial figures. As the City of London faces a pivotal moment in redefining its role in the international marketplace, Dame Julia will share her unique perspective on “The Future of Public Markets” — the evolving ecosystem of capital formation, regulation, technology, and investor engagement.

About the Event: A New Tradition Begins

This black-tie dinner marks the inaugural edition of what will become an annual keynote event hosted by the WCIT Financial Services Technology Panel in collaboration with key interest groups at the Institute of Directors. Our aim is twofold:

To address critical topics affecting the City of London and the broader UK financial sector by convening voices at the forefront of finance, regulation, and technology.

To raise funds for our flagship charitable programme, Project Pathway, an initiative that promotes greater diversity and access to careers in Financial Services Technology.

Charity in Focus: Project Pathway

Proceeds from this event will go toward supporting Project Pathway, an outreach and mentoring initiative designed to help secondary school students — especially those from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds — discover and pursue careers in Financial Services IT. Despite technology’s omnipresence in daily life, many students remain unaware of the rich and varied career paths available in the financial technology sector. Project Pathway helps bridge that awareness gap by offering insight days, mentoring, and career guidance, as well as building routes into employment for young people with diverse skills and ambitions. This work is particularly vital as the sector faces a significant digital skills shortage, and as we seek to build a future workforce reflective of the society it serves.

Keynote Speaker

Dame Julia Hoggett, DBE Chief Executive Officer, London Stock Exchange plc

Head of Digital and Securities Markets, London Stock Exchange Group

Dame Julia Hoggett has been at the helm of the London Stock Exchange plc since April 2021, guiding the institution through a period of rapid digital transformation and renewed focus on global competitiveness. In her broader role as Head of Digital and Securities Markets at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), she leads strategic initiatives across the group’s equity venues and drives the implementation of LSEG’s digital markets vision — seeking to modernise the structure and accessibility of capital markets. Before joining LSEG, Julia served as Director of Market Oversight and Head of Wholesale Banking Supervision at the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), where she was deeply involved in ensuring the integrity of market operations, overseeing regulation of trading venues, and shaping market policy during a time of substantial regulatory evolution. Her private sector experience includes senior roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she led various debt and capital markets initiatives including Green Bonds and Covered Bonds for EMEA. Earlier in her career, she served as CEO of DEPFA ACS Bank, part of the DEPFA Group, and began her financial journey at J.P. Morgan, focusing on emerging markets and sovereign agency debt. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to finance, she was named a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in His Majesty’s 2024 Birthday Honours. She was also listed in the Financial Times’ 25 Most Influential Women of 2024, awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2023, and featured regularly in Financial News’ “Most Influential” lists over the past 15 years. An active champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Julia has played a leading role in improving representation and access within the financial services sector for over two decades. Academically, Julia read Social and Political Sciences at Newnham College, Cambridge, and undertook postgraduate research at King’s College, Cambridge, focusing on economic development strategies in East Africa.
