About this event

Advancements in robotic and autonomous systems are presenting new opportunities to revolutionise train maintenance, and to rethink depot design and use. There is a lot that the rail industry can learn from other sectors such as marine, aerospace, defence, to name a few.

The introduction of new infrastructure (for instance in support to HS2) and new trains, as well as the retrofit of existing rolling stocks, call for the need to discuss how robotics and autonomous systems could be better utilised by the rail industry.

To bring together challenge owners and those with potential solutions RSSB is hosting a cross-industry workshop with the following aims:

• To identify train maintenance challenges that could benefit from increased automation

• To provide a showcase of past and existing research that has the potential to improve train maintenance, depot efficiency and safety

• To initiate the development of a future pipeline for research related to future train maintenance

• To demonstrate industry’s willingness to collaborate on fundamental (pre-competitive) research on this topic

Please register using the above link and the virtual workshop address will be sent to you in the confirmation email.

Please note the webinar will be recorded but if you wish to ask a question you can do so anonymously.
