We all know that work is evolving from traditional full time employment to various forms of flexible, agile or ‘smart’ working arrangements. There as been a lot of talk of the ’gig economy’ where we are all self employed and are rewarded for our outputs instead of time. And we only have to look around to see the impact that digital technologies are having on the way we work.
In amongst this major change, as independent consultants, we need to be advising our clients on how to manage their people. What issues are they facing, and what can we advise? What do we all need to understand about the future of work, for our clients and for the way we will deliver services in the future?
Peter Thomson will address this question, and aims to provide advice on how to approach clients on the subject of agile/smart working, including tools that help to understand the culture change involved.
Our speaker is Peter Thomson, Research Director, Wisework. Peter is both an expert on the future of work and also the Chair of the CIPD Thames Valley Branch Special Interest Group for Independent Consultants. Peter has lead transition to flexible working practices in many organisations, is co-author of the best-selling book “Future Work”, and ran the Future Work Forum at Henley Business School for 16 years. He has been consulting in this field for the last 25 years after a career in HR in the IT sector.
The event counts as a Continuous Professional Development activity for CIPD members and Certificates of Attendance are available at the end for your CPD records.
Please note that this event was previously entitled, The future world of work and its business opportunities for consultants.
