Choir For A Day: Songs For Life Join us for a morning of singing, good company and craic in East Linton. Sing your heart out!
About this event
Join us on the 18th June for a morning of singing at our very first Gatherings workshop. Doors will open and the kettle will be on from 9.30 and singing will begin at 10.00.
Ali Burns has been running choirs and singing workshops for over 25 years and is one of the best known song leaders on the community choir workshop circuit. Many of the songs we’ll sing are written by her and loved by choirs across the UK and beyond.
She will be joined for this workshop by Neil Squires co-leading and singing Bass and by improviser extraordinaire, Christine Carson on piano.
Don’t read music? Not a problem – Ali’s teaching technique has been honed to bridge the gap between people who learn by ear those who prefer to have a piece of music in their hand. Come and try it!
At The Gatherings the getting together and having a good time is more important than the finished product. Let’s face it – we’re not rehearsing for a performance or a competition so let’s just have a good time, sing your heart out for a few hours and meet some new friends.
Tea, coffee and homemade cake will be provided. However, if you love baking and want to bring something along to add to the menu, we’re not going to stop you!

“We are so looking forward to Sunday, those of us who came to your last workshop were really inspired by you and your music. We’ve spent the months in between bursting into snatches of your songs in the strangest of places – outside cafes, in garden centres, gardens and each others lounges. Your work gives us so much pleasure, hope for the future and sheer love of the world” MK, Swaffham
“I think the choir is fantastic, it is so friendly and inclusive, the singing is sublime – I love the strength of the basses and tenors. I think Ali is an inspired musical director – and composer. Her creativity and imagination are endless. The variety of styles and topics and light-heartedness and seriousness that we cover is amazing." BW, Edinburgh
“You are a national treasure! When I take an Ali Burns song along to my choir they all say Ooooh Ali Burns!, so just as Judy Dench’s full title is now Dame Judy Dench, your national treasure title is now Ooooh Ali Burns! " Ros Thomas, Choir Leader, Malvern
