The Gaza Poet: Mohammed Moussa
Overview
Meet The Gaza Poet: Mohammed Moussa
In October 2022, we hosted Palestinian poet, journalist, and podcaster Mohammed Moussa for the launch of his debut poetry collection, Flamingo. It is a privilege to welcome him back.
Born and raised in Gaza, Moussa’s work is deeply rooted in the lived experience of Palestinians under occupation and blockade. His poetry gives voice to the emotional and political weight of life in a region marked by conflict, displacement, and resilience.
Moussa was awarded the 2019 Richard Beeston Bursary by The Times, recognizing his courageous journalism in one of the world’s most challenging reporting environments. In 2018, he founded the Gaza Poets Society to nurture young writers and provide a platform for creative expression amid the constraints of siege and censorship.
We'll listen to poetry and conversation on the night, with time to socialise afterwards.
Held at Bookbag and Sacred Grounds, hot drinks and a bar will be available.
