Event description

Description

Join a vibrant, energised and expert community of practice working proactively to address gender inequality through education at The Gender Assembly 2017.

We’ll be exploring gender dynamics across a range of pertinent and challenging issues for educational leadership including

  • Behaviour, bitching and banter (in classrooms, corridors and canteens!)

  • Harassment, bullying and discrimination

  • Mental and emotional health and wellbeing

  • Teaching, learning and assessment

  • Educational attainment and achievement

  • Careers and progression to further education and employment

  • Sex education and the sexualisation of boys and girls

  • And much more!

Using an interactive plenary and workshop format, we’ll be combining your real-life experience and insight, with the latest research, best practice and resources to understand how these seemingly disparate challenges can be understood as interconnected when proactively addressed as gendered phenomena.

This event will be solutions focussed and underpinned by a focus on the intersectional root causes of inequality, rather than the surface level symptoms. Our aim is to catalyse sustainable culture change within individual schools, FE colleges and the education sector as a whole to make learning inclusive and safe for all young people.

Expect to come away with concrete actions, tools and strategies that will help you foster a gender-equitable and inclusive ethos in your school.
