In this second lecture, Mike Fraser will continue to trace the career of Bob Dylan, examining his later work and the controversies surrounding this period.
Since the sixties, Dylan’s career has involved extraordinary creative peaks and lows. Mike will consider his development from ‘Country Bob’ to his wonderful late career renaissance. Along the way Dylan has created both works of genius and a few works which can only be described as dire. Mike will discuss the Blind Willie McTells and ignore the Wiggle Wiggles. He will also address the controversies – ‘Christian Bob’, ‘Plagiarist Bob’, ‘Sinatra Bob’ and of course ‘Nobel Laureate Bob’. Are there more ‘Bobs’ to come? Mike has no idea, but he will address why Dylan transforms (some say murders) his back catalogue at almost every concert.
There is no need to have attended Part 1 to join the discussion.
