Thank you for registering to take part in Gherkin Challenge on Sunday 6 Setpember 2015 and raising money for the NSPCC.

In registering for this event you confirm that you are 18 years or older and that you have read, understood and agreed to the following terms and conditions. Participants agree to photographs being taken of them and understand that these may be used for future publicity. Children aged 8 years and older can take part but must be accompanied by an adult.

The individual fundraising target is £200 and the team target is £800, get started now by setting up your Virgin Money Giving, Just Giving, or your BT MyDonate fundraising page and help us reach our overall target of raising over £230,000 and make a massive difference to vulnerable children’s lives in the UK.

The Gherkin Challenge race packs will be sent out to all participants two weeks before race day and will include a running number, race chip and vest and a helpful participant guide packed full of information about the day. What is the minimum age to take part?

Children aged 8 years or over can take part in the Gherkin Challenge. All participants 18 years of age and older are considered adults.

What is the minimum amount I need to fundraise?

All adults must pledge to raise a minimum of £200 sponsorship. When you register you are committing to raising money to help us fund our vital services for children and families across the UK.

There is no fundraising target for children but we would be very grateful and will support any fundraising undertaken.

How far is it to the top?

There are 38 floors to the top.

How long does it take to get to the top?

The fastest time last year was 5 minutes 14 seconds and slowest time was about 40 minutes. The average finish time last year was 11 minutes.

Can I walk up?

Yes, absolutely, many participants choose to walk to the top.

What is a Champagne Lift Pass?

A Champagne Lift Pass gives you the luxury of taking the lift to the top of the Gherkin to take in the stunning panoramic views of London. At the top, you will be able to enjoy luxury treats and a glass of champagne whilst taking in the views or waiting for friends and family who took the stairs. The price is £60 for one or £100 for two.

Is my registration fee refundable?

We will only refund your registration fee if we cancel the event. We cannot refund your registration fee if you are unable to take part due to the costs involved in administrating your registration.

Where does the money go?

The NSPCC are here for all children right now. Some children need immediate help or even just someone to listen to them. The money you raise will help us continue to provide services such as ChildLine where any child or adult can call – anytime and anywhere for immediate help and advice. Over half a million contacts are made to ChildLine every year and provides advice and support to over 35,000 adults.

What is the sponsorship deadline?

The deadline to return all sponsorship money is Friday 2 October 2015.

How do I train for the event?

Each year, most of the people who take part in the Gherkin Challenge are new to tower running so we provide the best advice to get you started. We will keep in touch with regular emails and advice, we will also hope to send you hints and tips from the pros.
