About this Event

Panel talk and Questions & Answers

The Glasgow Effect to Psychologists is a gap between theory and practice which needs to be addressed. A committed student team led by MSc student Marek created this event to open up dialogue and raise the level of awareness of the psychological issues related to The Glasgow Effect, specifically in men. We feature two special guests

Dr John Barry, Chair of the Male Psychology Section of the BPS, a psychologist and clinical hypnotherapist. Dr Barry will open with the topic of Male Psychology, explaining why the topic is important, why it tends to be overlooked, and what can be done to improve men's mental health.

Professor Ewan Gillon, is a clinical director of First Psychology in Glasgow, and Emeritus Professor in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. Prof. Gillon will put Male Psychology in the context of Glasgow's mental health services and therapist rooms. What can be done differently and what can we do differently?

The aim of this event is to raise awareness about important issues that impact mental health, and to identify ways to take practical steps to improve our current situation.

This event will appeal to wide audience, such as Psychology students and professionals, and anyone with an interest in new ideas in mental health. We want to raise awareness of Male Psychology in Glasgow and look to improving the current position.
