Michalis Psalidopoulos is Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC.

He is also professor of the History of Economic Thought at the Department of Economics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

From 2010 to 2014 he was holder of the Constantine Karamanlis Chair in Hellenic and European Studies at the Fletcher School of Diplomacy, Tufts University, USA. He took his first degree in Economics from the University of Athens and followed postgraduate studies in politics, sociology and economics at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. He obtained a PhD in Economics, in the Department of Public Administration of Panteion University, Greece.

He was a Fulbright Fellow at Duke University in 1993, a Stanley J. Seeger Fellow at Princeton University in 1996 and a Visiting Research Professor at King’s College, London in 1998.
