2025 UK, Dir: Constanstine Costi, 1hr15min Language: English BBFC:PG

Did you know that you have to stir clockwise when you stir your oatmeal? Otherwise you’re letting the devil into your porridge. Everyone knows this - at least in the village of Carrbridge in the Scottish Highlands. For 30 years the town has hosted the World Porridge Championships. This year it’s a special championship because it’s the last time Charlie Miller will be in charge of the festivities.

An robh fios agad gu feum thu na tha am pòit le min-choirc a chur mun cuairt deiseal? Cumaidh sin an Sàtan a-mach às an lit agad. Tha làn fhios aca air an sin an Drochaid Char air a’ Ghàidhealtachd. Tha Farpais na Cruinne airson a bhith a’ dèanamh lit, air a bhith sa bhaile bho chionn 30 bliadhna. Seo am bliadhna mu dheireadh a bhios Charlie Miller òs a chionn.

The Last of the Hand Weavers

Dir: Simon Barr, Dir: Simon Barr, 2025, Ireland, 18 min

Eddie Doherty is a modest and humble man who, at the age of 84, still carries on the tradition of hand weaving the Donegal Tweed fabrics at his small shop in Ardara, Co. Donegal, Ireland. He tells his story of starting hand weaving in the 1950's, how the once booming trade declined due to modern industrialisation and now only a few hand weavers remain. ‘S duine sèimh is iriseal a th’ ann an Eddie Doherty. Aig aois 84, tha e fhathast a’ cumail air an tradisean a’ figheadh an clò mòr Dùn na nGall sa bhùth bheag an Andara, Co. Dùn na nGall, Èireann. Tha e ag innse a sgeulachd nuair a thòisich e breabadaireachd-làimhe sna 1950an, ciamar an gnìomhas aig aon àm beòthail air crìonadh ri linn gnìomhachas ùr agus a-nis, chan eil ach glè bheag de bheabadairean fhathast ann.
