Overview

Explore how effective policies are key to ensure that CSB housing comes to fruition.

About this event

This masterclass follows on from our session on Strategies for Diverse Housing – Unlocking Delivery Through Custom and Self-Build at the end of September. Having considered local plans and the way in which Custom and Self Build housing can be an important part of the provision to deliver a diverse housing offering, this new masterclass looks at how effective policies are key to ensure that CSB housing comes to fruition. To deliver outcomes policies need to be proactive and unambiguous.

The objectives of this session will be to seek to:

Outline how CSB plots can be delivered through a ‘package policy’ approach

Share insights into the CSB policy landscape across England demonstrating initiatives being taken to ensure robust policies are in play.

Outline some of the challenges with policy approaches taken forward and the consequences of ineffective policies

Consider lessons from recent appeal decisions

Share ‘good practice’ and examples of ambitious local plan policy approaches

Early consideration and potentially a dialogue with planning authorities in respect of CSB planning policy by developers, enablers, community groups and applicants will enable a smoother planning process, where a clearer understanding can be gained about the policy implications.

Whether you're a planner, policymaker, developer, or housing advocate, this session will provide practical insights and inspiration for understanding CSB policy, and what the rational is and how it works.

Early booking is highly recommended for this popular masterclass session.
