Event Details

The family – traditionally at the centre of life across most of Asia – is changing. New lifestyles are emerging across the region as people get married later, stay single longer or do not marry at all. What do these new patterns mean for women?

Four leading thinkers from Asia will discuss how universal these changes are from the perspective of certain countries and how these changes have impacted female rights and gender equality.

The panel comprises Ramita Navai, author of City of Lies: Love, Sex, Death and the search for truth in Tehran, Elif Shafak, author of Honour and The Forty Rules of Love, and Sharmila Chauhan, writer of the play The Husbands. Chairing the panel will be Radhika Sanghani, author and women's writer at The Telegraph.

This event is in partnership with the Pan Asian Women’s Association (PAWA), who are sponsoring the drinks reception after. PAWA is a charity that supports teenage girls education in Asia.
