We’re taking our inspiration from the United States of Birmingham official itinerary for this 6K run in celebration of International Day of Birmingham!
The International Day of Birmingham, incase you’re not yet familiar, is an annual day of celebration commemorating the creation of an historic alliance of the world’s Birminghams by Brummie comedian, Joe Lycett!
In 2024, Joe embarked on a delightfully daft cross-Atlantic road trip, exploring the world’s many Birminghams, handily all in North America. Not content with merely visiting our city’s namesakes, Joe wanted to create a formal linking of all the Birminghams and with the blessing of the Lord Mayor, formed official Friendship Agreements, thus creating the United States of Birmingham.
The official United States of Birmingham itinerary is inspired by iconic moments in the show and, of course, by the city’s vast and vibrant heritage. It’s a check list of 10 fantastically Birmingham things to do and on this run you’ll check off a whole bunch of them!
From listening to Black Sabbath on Black Sabbath Bridge, to munching a Curly Wurly at the Bull, and even paying homage to Alfie Bird and Mr Egg ... it’s a love letter to Birmingham like no other. And now… we’re running it!
What to Expect:
A free, social, guided 6K run through Brum’s quirkiest icons
Speaker backpack pumping the official USoB playlist
Stops at landmarks like:
- Eat a Curly Wurly at the Bull
- Honour Mr Egg in Southside
- Pay homage to Birds Custard in Digbeth
- Say “Alright Bab” in Colmore Square
And more!
Finish at The Jewellers Arms for a cob (because what’s more Brummie than that?). Option to stay after for a drink and a social.
This might just be our most unique, hilarious, and most Birmingham run yet...
We can’t wait to run with you :)
