About this event

Welcome to a world where our quirks and worries transform into something wild, wonderful, and a little bit goofy! This workshop is a fun and creative space for kids to explore their inner feelings and discover just how awesome their unique qualities are. We believe that when we can laugh at our "flaws," we take away their power and find our own strength.

What We'll Do

In this hands-on workshop, each child will become a "Goofy Monster-Maker." Using a variety of paints, they'll create a friendly monster portrait of themselves. The twist? They'll turn their least favourite attributes or a small insecurity into a fun, goofy monster feature!

For example, a child who feels a little shy might give their monster big, shy eyes that change colour, or a child who thinks their ears are too big might make a monster with huge, polka-dotted ears that can hear every silly secret. It’s a playful and powerful way to make fun of what bothers us most.

What They'll Gain

More than just a cool piece of art to take home, children will leave this workshop feeling:

  • Empowered: They will learn to turn a negative feeling into a positive and funny creative idea.
  • Confident: By laughing at their "monster," they'll build self-acceptance and a stronger sense of self-worth.
  • Creative: They'll express themselves freely and discover new ways to use art as a tool for self-discovery.
  • Connected: They'll share stories and laughter with other kids who are doing the same thing, building a sense of community.

Who It's For

This workshop is designed for children ages 6 to 11 who are ready to get creative, be a little silly, and discover their inner monster!

Mission

To bring insight and awareness about emotional literacy through artistic and creative practices as a tool of self-expression as well as a means to create a place for children to feel free and safe to be themselves fully.

The activities will enable children to experience the positive effects of mindful practices. Through the sessions, they will experience a self-esteem boost, feel empowered and feel at ease while reminding them how important and valuable they are in their own unique way.

The mission is to impact families cohesively, not only children, which is why there are variations and options to different offerings which will include parents as they influence children the most.
