This free event, jointly organised by The Centre for Primary Care and Health Services Research at The University of Manchester, and Ipsos, who have delivered the GP Patient Survey (GPPS) since it began, will explore its use and influence in primary care research across England.

The GPPS represents a valuable resource for understanding patient experience and informing health policy and practice. The conference will highlight how researchers engage with GPPS data, with presentations of selected abstracts demonstrating innovative and impactful findings using the GPPS dataset, from across the research community.

The programme includes a keynote address by Dan Wellings (The King’s Fund):

“20 Years of Understanding Patient Experience – What Have We Learnt?”

Drawing on his previous role commissioning the GPPS at NHS England and his current work at The King’s Fund, Dan Wellings will reflect on the survey’s development over two decades. His talk will examine how the measurement of patient experience must evolve in response to the challenges and priorities outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan, including the role of digital technology and the future of patient feedback.

The day will conclude with a Q&A session led by Ipsos, providing an opportunity to discuss the survey’s methodology, recent developments, and engagement with user groups.
