Event description

Description

Hi all!

On 22nd July 2018, we are teaming up with the legendary Ealing Blues Festival & Blackstar Amplification to set a new Guinness World Record!

The record for the largest electric guitar ensemble was set in India in 2013 with 368 participants – we are aiming for at least 400 and will be playing 'Heroes' by David Bowie.

This attempt is being organised by me, Dave Pile, a life-long guitar player. I lost my mum to a brain tumour in 2013. So the aim is not only to smash the world record, but also raise as much money as possible for Brain Tumour Research. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/TheGreatGuitarChallenge All profits made will go straight to @braintumourrsch enabling vital research into this woefully underfunded form of cancer. Just 1% of the national spend goes to this devastating disease!

Guinness World Records have officially accepted my application to make this attempt and so now we need your help in making it happen. We need as many enthusiastic electric guitarists as possible willing to take part and blow the existing record out the water!!

We are asking all electric guitarists to register on this page. **Super Early Bird tickets are available now for a limited time at £35, plus Eventbrite admin** (Full price £50). This not only includes a donation to Brain Tumour Research but will also entitle you to the following:

  • A New Blackstar Fly 3 micro amp (including batteries)

  • T shirt (to mark the event)

  • FREE day entry to the blues festival

  • The opportunity to make history and break a world record! We do ask that you bring your own electric guitar and a lead (sorry, no acoustic electric guitars)

If you already have a battery powered amplifier and want to bring that, No problem! ....... Just click on the "If you have your own battery amp" option, and you'll still receive a T-shirt and free day entry to the blues festival.

*** Please note on the morning of the record attempt we will need all participants to be at the venue for 9am. This is to insure we can hand you your amplifier and assemble everyone into their positions. (Hopefully manage a couple of run throughs before the attempt is taken.) We do advise that any friends and family coming along to watch the event will be admitted after we have all guitarists in!

Although all participants have free entry for the days blues festival, friends and family will need to purchase their tickets on the day or book online via the Blues festival 2018 website.

Thank you all so much for your support!

LETS DO THIS!!

All the very best

Dave :)

All proceeds/profits will be donated to Brain Tumour Research
