The Great Medico-Legal Debate 2017: ‘Should there be a right to be informed...
When health care professionals receive a patient’s predictive genetic information should they owe a legal duty to disclose this information to genetic relatives?
The Mason Institute warmly invites you to attend the Great Medico-Legal Debate 2017 where debate rivals, University of Edinburgh and Glasgow will consider issues of privacy, autonomy, and the physician-patient relationship arising over medical genetics.
The debate is being held at the University of Glasgow on Friday 24 February 2017 during the University of Edinburgh’s Festival of Creative Learning Week (20-24 February 2017). The Mason Institute is providing prearranged transportation to Glasgow for University of Edinburgh staff and students to attend the debate. We are unable to provide transportation for those unaffiliated with the University of Edinburgh for insurance reasons.
Seats on the coach to Glasgow will be reserved on a first-come-first-serve basis for University of Edinburgh students and staff. The coach will leave Edinburgh from Chambers Street (adjacent to Old College) at 16:15. A reception will immediately follow the debate and at approximately 20:30 the coach will return to Edinburgh.
When registering, please indicate whether you are a University of Edinburgh staff/student; if not, please register for the ticket 'Non-University of Edinburgh Attendee'.
Keep posted to masoninstitute.org for further details on the debate! We will update our website and the eventbrite once the precise venue at the University of Glasgow is confirmed.
