About this event
The Great Get Together was inspired by Jo Cox MP to bring people together to celebrate that we have more in common than that which divides us. On the weekend closest to Jo’s birthday - which is 24-26 June this year - we’ll bring together communities to celebrate what unites us, to bridge divides and to tackle loneliness.
For the 6th year of the Great Get Together we’ve again partnered with Refugee Week to run the Great Walk Together. This UK wide walk brings people together to celebrate the Great Get Together’s #moreincommon message while also taking part in Refugee Week and reflecting on the journeys which refugees face.
Walking is a brilliant, accessible way to extend the hand of welcome to others and to meet new people. No matter how long your walk is, from a mile amble to a twenty mile hike, its the perfect way to encourage new community connections.
This Common Room session is focused on meeting with other Great Walk Together organisers and supporting each other with your organising. It’s a chance to share advice and mutual support, to chat and to generally learn more about what others are organising across the country.
