Come and join The Glasgow School of Art Choir and a range of wonderful GSA soloists as we end the first academic term of this session on a high.
The evening promises great music and quality performances and not a Christmas carol in sight! (Due to our wacky term dates this session!)
As usual, there is an alcoholic beverage included in the ticket price and, as an end of term treat, there will be nibbles too!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes please. In order to gain entry to the concert all concert goers must present a valid paper ticket upon arrival at Adelaide's.

The Glasgow School of Art Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble primarily comprising past and present staff and students of The Glasgow School of Art. The choir was founded with the principal aim of creating an amateur chorus which would perform to a standard far above that of an average amateur group, an objective we continue to pursue. The ensemble has quickly gained a reputation for outstanding musical discipline and is committed to expanding its repertoire and the musicianship of its members.
The choir performs repertoire from a wide range of genres including Duruflé, Fauré and Elgar as well as works by contemporary choral composers including Chilcott, Lauridsen and Whitacre. Recent concerts have also included pieces from musical theatre and traditional Scottish songs.
The Glasgow School of Art Choir performs regularly in two concerts each year- a Christmas concert in December and Summer concert in May– as well as numerous other engagements. More information can be found on our website.
On 9th April 2014 the choir performed the world premiere of a specially commissioned piece of music at the opening of The Glasgow School of Art's new campus building, the Reid Building. Called "Making It New" the piece was written by the then Scots Makar, Liz Lochhead, and Glasgow-born Ken Johnston.
In June 2016 the ensemble recorded “Light Through Tall Windows”, a new choral work written about the Mackintosh Building, in the Mackintosh Library. The piece, written as a response to the fire which partially damaged the Mackintosh Building in 2014, was written as a collaboration between two GSA alumni and was released as a CD single in early 2017 to raise money for the Mackintosh Campus Appeal. It is available to order from the choir shop.
In 2019 the choir will be performing a specially commissioned choral work by renowned composer Sir James MacMillan, CBE, which will be premiered in the Mackintosh Building as part of the re-opening celebrations once the building has been restored, following the devastating fire in May 2014.
Although the ensemble is closely affiliated with The Glasgow School of Art there is no requirement for our members to be affiliated in any way with the institution: the choir is non-auditioned and open to all.
The GSA choir is accompanied by Cason Kang, a keyboard student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
