Discover the story of the Reverend Herbert Butler Cowl, know affectionately by his family as the Half-Shilling Curate. Herbert Cowl was the only known Army Chaplain to be awarded the Military Cross Medal for his actions on a ship during the Great War

Join Sarah Reay, author and grandaughter of The Half-Shilling Curate, as she shares her grandfather's experiences of the Great War, from Christmas Eve 1914 to the end of hostilities in 1919.

What are my parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is no parking at the museum, however there are disabled parking spaces opposite the museum and we are very close to the Castle car park.
