Meet Jule
Jule Schnakenberg is a young climate lawyer, advocate for climate justice and the director of World’s Youth for Climate Justice (WYCJ). She is 26 years old and co-built the youth movement for an International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion together with friends from around the world. WYCJ is a global, youth-led movement of thousands of campaigners in over 50 countries, working to transform international law into a tool for climate justice.
Jule started her journey in youth empowerment and climate justice with an ecosystem restoration organization at the age of 11, which led to her accumulated impatience for radical and systematic change. Originally from Germany, Jule is mindful of her historical responsibility which informs her work and motivates persistence. She holds an LLB from the University of Aberdeen, an LLM from Leiden University and almost a MSc from Oxford University in International Human Rights Law.

What is The Handshake?
A career inspiration series spotlighting leading voices in the peace & justice ecosystem. Through honest conversations and personal stories, The Handshake offers an inside look at real career journeys, beyond titles and job descriptions.
Participants can engage directly, asking their pressing questions about career journeys, field developments, and the key skills needed for future professionals. For those who find the peace and justice sector daunting or do not know where to begin, these conversations provide practical insights and help set realistic expectations for entering the field.
