Event description
A one-day event for everyone interested in the power of poetry to heal ourselves, our communities and our world.

About this Event

Poets and writing-for-health practitioners will share their thoughts and work on such themes as: Loss and Poetry, Poetry and Later Life, Poetry and Prison, Poetry and the Planet, Poetry and the Body, Poetry and Hope. Delegates will attend all sessions (no break-out groups) and there will be facilitated discussions and writing exercises throughout the day. We will explore how poetry facilitates personal healing and can build community and offer hope.

There will be refreshments, a buffet lunch, book stall, networking opportunities and a chance to enjoy Canterbury in the summer. The venue is within the cathedral precincts, part of a World Heritage Site, and for those who wish, there will be a chance to attend Evensong at the end of the conference. This summer sees numerous celebrations connected with Becket 2020 so it is an iconic time to visit Canterbury.

Accommodation should be booked in good time and there are easy train and bus connections to the City.
