Event description
This unique Women's Health event is a series of talks by various expert clinicians, instructors and therapists, complete with Q&A session.

About this Event

What is The Health Network?

Founded by owner of CAN&WILL Fitness and Wellbeing, Beth Dawkins - The Health Network is a collaborative project which provides 'Wellbeing Workshops'; each featuring short talks by industry experts, a Q&A session and networking combined.

Our aim...

With GP appointment waiting times getting longer and funding stretched, GP's are now referring more patients to social activities and other types of support to improve health and wellbeing, whilst aiming to reduce demand on the NHS.

10 minutes to tell your story in the GP consultation room can be a daunting experience, and you may walk out disappointed with the outcome, not knowing where to turn to next.

Your time and money is precious, so our aim is that attending these events could help you save time waiting for appointments, streamline your approach and protect your pockets from high costs of private healthcare.

We want to bridge the gap between the NHS and private services and empower women with knowledge and signpost them to the many different treatment options and services available.

Here are some facts that you may not know about Women's Health...

- In a recent study of 1000 UK women, 63% of menopausal working women said that their work life was negatively affected by their symptoms. Some even resigned as a result.

- 90% said that their workplace doesn't offer any help to menopausal women.

- Women experience depression twice as often as men. changes in hormones, menopause and post-natal depression play a big part.

- A staggering 65% of women would like to partake in physical exercise, but don't due to fear of being judged.

- It's actually hard to say how many women have urinary stress incontinence because women often feel that they need to 'put up with it' or are too embarrassed to talk about it.

- Over a third of women in the UK have one or more bone fractures because of Osteoporosis in their lifetime. Women are twice as likely to develop Osteoporosis compared with men.

- The gastrointestinal tract is equally gender sensitive: Irritable bowel syndrome affects twice as many women as men.

Who are the guest speakers at this event?

Our guest speakers and panellists for this particular workshop are:

HEALTHCARE: An NHS nurse prescriber with a special qualification in Women's Health and who also runs private clinics.

EXERCISE: A BodyControl Pilates Instructor with a keen interest in Pilates for Women's Health and Wellbeing.

COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY: An holistic therapist discussing benefits of reiki and mindfulness, who was also previously a women's health nurse and sexual health nurse consultant.

NUTRITION: TBC!*

Each workshop will be unique and cover a variety of relevant topics.

The event will be hosted by REPS accredited personal trainer and owner of CAN&WILL Beth Dawkins. GP and trainee Psychotherapist Trudy Spencer will also be a panellist.

How much is the workshop?

This is our first event and we are inviting you for an introductory offer of just £15 per person - that works out at £3.75 per talk and £6 per hour!

This amazing value is because we are asking attendees for their honest feedback instead of hard-earned cash. We want to make our Wellbeing Workshops as informative, effective and enjoyable as we can in future, so your opinion really matters to us!

Can I get individual medical advice at this event?

It's important that healthcare is safe and protected.

Our workshops provide general advice and help to signpost you to the right service for your needs. Our clinicians are covered by professional medical indemnity and are unable to provide individual medical advice about treatment and prescribing to each person. We do however, aim to help you go to your own registered GP or Clinican with a clearer vision and better insight.

Private consultations can be arranged at the event, and most will be discounted if booked within one month of attending the workshop.

How do I find you?..

The workshop will be held at The CAN&WILL Studio, based within Market Harborough Rugby Football Club, Torch Way, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, LE16 9HF
