Event description
Road to UHC: What's an optimal health workforce to spark improvements in NCDs care and in other disciplines like psoriasis, mental health?

About this Event

Today, half of the world’s population cannot obtain essential health services because of poor accessibility of and out-of-pocket costs associated with care. A high-quality and adequately resourced health workforce is absolutely necessary if we are to manage the growing burden of NCDs while delivering on our global commitment to universal health coverage, healthy lives, and well-being for all. The situation demands strengthened service provision at the primary care level to meet growing patient needs: in high-income countries, a primary-care led approach can enhance patient care coordination and deliver more cost-effective interventions, while in low- and middle-income countries, primary care models have the potential to unlock care to patients who have historically have had to go without. Join a panel discussion in the margins of the High Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage that brings together a diverse set of stakeholders united in advancing a call-to action to carry forward the message that health workforce investments for management of NCDs have the potential to spark catalytic care improvements in other disciplines such as dermatology, mental health, and nutrition.
