The Heartlands' Red River Rambler
(In association with West Cornwall Massage Therapy)...
Saturday 29th April @ 10am ( MAIN EVENT 16.5 MILES)
For the very 1st time Bys Vyken Events and Cornish Trails have teamed up with Heartlands of Cornwall and West Cornwall Massage Therapy to bring you the most stunning of heritage routes.
This magnificent route was created by West Cornwall Massage Therapy's very own Alison Campbell.
The stunning route starts and finishes at Heartlands of Cornwall and takes in an '8' shape route that follows the historical Kerrier Mining Trails through the majestic Tuckingmill Valley and follows The Red River through the Red River Valley Nature Reserve and onto The Godrevy Heritage Coast section of North Cliffs on The South West Coast Path.
The route then takes in the curiously named, 'Deadman's Cove' , 'Hudder Down/Seal Cove' and 'Hell's Mouth' as well as 'Godrevy Point'.
The view of Godrevy Lighthouse in the backdrop serves as a reminder of all those lost at sea near to this point and reminds us of its inspirational qualities. The lighthouse of course served to inspire the Virginia Woolf novel, 'To the lighthouse'.
The route sways off of North Cliffs connecting onto farm trails and back onto the mining lanes at Coombe and onto Tehidy Country Park.
Here you can enjoy wildlife in all its glory where the grey squirrel is king!
A few more mine tracks and you'll head out to the East Pool School Of Mines where you will proceed to finish at Heartlands just past Robinsons Shaft.
The race will start and finish at The Red River Café and Grill with registration taking place also inside the café.
Tim Treseder the manager of the grill is an experienced trail runner himself and will be keen to meet you all at registration!
The conference hall at Heartlands will be opened up for a trail running market on the day. Names are due to follow. Check Facebook for updates.
Our first announced name is 'Run Venture' , the running hub from The Tamar Trails in Devon.
The main race will be accompanied by a 'Kids fun run' which will take place on 1 and a half miles(3K approx) of Heartlands' 19 acre stretch of land.
Please note there is an almost 1:1 tarmac to trail ratio (50/50) with some very busy road sections.
NO ROADS WILL BE CLOSED.
FULLY MARKED AND FULLY SUPPORTED COURSE.
