About this event

Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at The Hermitage retrofit, a landmark project in Lewisham’s Blackheath Conservation Area. This session features insights from Studio Partington and United Living, who collaborated to upgrade 28 social rent flats in a 1940s Art Deco block—while residents remained in place throughout.

Part-funded by the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 2.1, the project tackled hard-to-heat homes with a full suite of improvements: new double-glazed Crittall windows, roof and floor insulation, ventilation, solar PV with SolShare technology, and more—bringing the building to EPC C.

Hear directly from speakers sharing practical lessons on delivery, coordination, and resident engagement.

They will cover:

  • Design-led retrofit in a conservation area.
  • Innovative energy distribution with SolShare.
  • Addressing damp, condensation, and thermal comfort.
  • Holistic upgrade strategies and resident engagement.

Perfect for retrofit professionals, housing providers, architects, and local authorities looking to balance conservation, innovation, and community impact.

Speakers: Suzanne Davenport, Associate, Studio Partington.

Tania Jennings, Net Zero Carbon Manager, Lewisham Council.
